The finite-difference grid is designed by manipulating rows, columns, and layers of cells. A series of cells oriented
parallel to the x-direction is called a row. A series of cells along the y-direction is called a column. A horizontal
two-dimensional network of cells is called a layer. This terminology is shown in the preceeding figure. Cells are
designated using the row and column coordinates, with the origin in the upper left corner of the mesh. That is, the
upper left cell is called (row 1, column 1). The upper layer is layer 1 and layers increase in number downward.
The finite-difference grid is created in GV by first specifying the number of rows, columns, and layers. The user
also provides the initial row and column widths or spacings. GV then creates a mesh with uniform row and column
widths. This is called a regular mesh. While the regular mesh represents the most accurate form of the finite-

- Workstation hasp keys do not work with Remote Desktop. If you need to use Remote Desktop then you need a
network license. A network hasp key can be purchased but requires a minimum of 3 licenses on the network dongle.
You may purchase additional licenses or you may move workstation licenses on to the network dongle by returning
the dongle to us.
- If the dongle does not work, the most common problem is that you need to install new drivers. Those drivers can
be downloaded from our web site at . – click Clients/Downloads, and look under
Utilities. If the drivers do not fix the problem, the next most common problem is an expired security code in the
registration window (Help|About and click register). In this case, simply remove all text from the security code field
and try the dongle again
